Why are these topics aligned: anti-abortion, pro-guns, climate change denials

There are very few long-term solutions to plastic waste. 'Recycling' plastic is not circular like aluminum (the latter is nearly infinitely recyclable).

As for the products of green energy - capitalism will drive behavior to externalize risk and costs. That's why we are in the climate change mess anyway - dumping excess CO2 into the atmosphere doesn't hit a company's bottom-line.

And unfortunately, the US is less than 5% of the population. Not sure of our "consumption" percentage. No matter how perfect WE are, the other 95%+ of the population needs to be onvboard as well.
How much do various nations consume in energy? https://ourworldindata.org/energy-produc...onsumption

But we can't directly control what Europe or China do. We can only be "responsible for ourselves." (Hmm, in any other context, the conservatives invoke that maxim, but when it comes to the global environment they point to everyone else as an excuse not to take it seriously at home.)

I'm a conservative that is going to say that the whole world can't possibly live like we do. Which means we have to radically change our behavior in the direction opposite gluttony. No one wants to hear this. All the feel good fashion isn't even close to enough.

I am not saying at all we shouldn't try here in the US, just that everyone needs to be onboard, and I think unless we get China and the rest of Asia, and India onboard, it will be an ugly long uphill battle. (not because of their population numbers, but because of their emerging industrialization as a whole)
