Reuters: 'Fitch highlighted Jan. 6 insurrection in talks with Treasury ahead of US downgrade'
#11
Manchin says it was Biden's fault.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.)...on Thursday called Fitch Ratings’ downgrade of the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA+ a “historic failure of leadership by both political parties and the executive branch.”

...Manchin criticized Biden for showing a “deficiency of leadership” in April after he initially refused to sit down with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to negotiate a deficit reduction package in exchange for raising the debt limit.

Tell me again why we must not tell Joe Manchin to take a hike?

Um, last I checked we DID come to agreement between Biden and McCarthy, what, a MONTH ago already. Did he not get the tweet?

McCarthy is now saying what he agreed to was a spending limit, not that he was agreeing that spending would be up to that limit. IOW, the spending limit agreement just was an agreement to not spend more than that, but they can still demand to spend under the agreed limit. Smells like desperate BS to me but I'm pretty biased.
