about $420 right now on ebay, if that works for you. or a shade under $400 shipped if used is OK with you.

For a "deal"? They still were all the apple refurb store not long ago, but not base. Base M2 has been $499 new many times from several places since it was introduced.

Im selling a base M1 to a client who is struggling cash wise for $200. She keeps buying 10 year old macs.

I shopped on CL and ebay, limited inventory. $400 for base M1 might have been the least I saw. and bidding is cray cray.

Costco had the base M1 for $299 on closeout a while back. At least they were listed on the web site, but they were exceedingly hard to find in stock anywhere.

I have no numbers handy, but the absolute best prices for new Apple kit, including the M1 mini was at B&H, followed and sometimes equaled by the Exchange.

This is because both places have had sale prices equal to or nearly equal to the best at AMZ, and other retailers, but also offer 'tax free' and tax free pricing.

Apple offers mil-spec discounts for those qualifying, but it's a 10% discount, where payboo is whatever one's state sales tax would be (10.75% for me).

B&H does this because of their payboo rebate plan, and the Exchange because it's a military store, where no tax is charged, and one must have a military related qualification to shop there.

Timing is key.

So I always check both places for prices before pulling the trigger.

And more than once I've bought somewhere else only to see a better price a week or so later at either of the above.
