How often do you upgrade your phone?

I think one thing that threads like this show is that for the most part Apple's hardware is pretty reliable (Macs too), and the old devices still basically work when retired but performance and software support are the likely motivations for hardware replacement.

Honestly, smart phone hardware is pretty stable right now. For iPhones, the cameras are getting a little better after the big jump at iP11ProMax.

Android phones have led parallel lives, with google and samsung cameras running neck-and-neck (and sometimes ahead) of the iPhone each year.

iPhone 7+ so working on 7 years and counting.

iP (1/original)
iP 4
(iP 5 borrowed a used one while I fixed broken glass on 4)
iP 7

4 then 6 then 7 years. Still have em and they all work, Mom still uses the original iPhone as a game player

How often? When they break.

The 5 eventually broke from me carrying it in a back pocket and sitting my fat ass on it.
The 7 hasn't broken yet, although I have managed to crack the screen so when I decide I want a new phone I'll just slip it into that back pocket.

"It depends"

I went from 7 => 13 => 15 (which hasn't arrived yet)

Apple woo'ed me with some new features and zero percent financing, but for all I know I might go another 6 years before getting the iphone 21.

Every 3-4 but from an old to a less old model. Never cutting edge. I have a 12 now and will have a 15 in about 5 years

I’m on cricket so upgrades come when I have the money and/or features I want. My last was from 6s plus to xs max. Primarily because it was the cheapest oled model with a large screen. And I got “upgrade” from Swappa when the current generation was the 12. So not the latest and greatest.
