I thought I'd seen it mentioned at some point. It's one of the apps I'm looking at learning for use newer systems with newer OS versions. Any thoughts or tips?
Any ON1 photo software users here?

I used to use it when I was an active professional. It worked well and automated some procedures making repetitive procedures easy. It also offered some filters that were quite well done.

I was not aware of this. It seems to be an AI platform for images.
Nothing wrong with that, but because of permissions, I’d use it as a plug in for Photos.app or Affinity. I wouldn’t trust my whole library to it. Reminded me of Filmora…

I used it for a while but haven’t used it much lately and haven’t upgraded recently. I’ve stayed pretty much with Photoshop and Luminar Neo for a while now instead. I’m a member of their FB group and it seems there are more users complaining since the new update. Generally I think it’s a good editor but didn’t see anything in it that would replace PS and Neo.

I like it for the Filters. Quick and easy. I have a couple of clients that like their results when I use ON1.

I also have DxO PhotoLab and Dxo PureRAW, and have used those a bit off and on for a number of years. I ought to get to grips with something new. With DxO, I can generate TIFs and work on those in Photoshop on an older Mac/OS. I'd like to be able to adjust the interface more: it's dark, with smaller interface text than I'm comfortable with..

Some look interesting but the one I mainly use is a filter called "Charge More" that gives portraits a professional look. It's does give me the confidence to truly charge more since the images have a nicer look than out of the camera.

I still prefer Photoshop over everything else. I use Luminar Neo, On1 Photo RAW, Aurora HD, Topaz Noiseless and Topaz Sharpen AI as plugins within Photoshop so I can pick the best solution or filter depending on the task I’m looking to do.
That being said there are free trials for both Luminar Neo and On1 Photo RAW 2024: https://skylum.com/luminar-trial https://www.on1.com/free/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=28776165&utm_term=on1%20photo%20raw%202024&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAr8eqBhD3ARIsAIe-buO04m5kg3iTmklwfBpofZv-yeuhcT5N6bVL5pEwmf-svMll3Mn87voaAs5CEALw_wcB

I hope my Macs running CS6 and CS5 live forever, or that they at least outlive me. DxO PhotoLab has a tool for micro-contrast that can be very nice for bringing out subtle details. It's easier than trying to finesse those things with curves. |
