Plex and adding files.....
#1
I have Plex server running on my MacBook Pro, and I watch a TV series that I downloaded, and it works great.

I am trying to add some Christmas movies I downloaded, and created a library, and directed it to the media, but nothing shows up.

I know there are a lot of rules about what will work, in terms of video files, but the ones that work so far are MKV, and the xmas ones are mp4...

Anyone have a guiding hand?

Your mp4 files should work fine with plex. Since you created a new library for the movies I'm thinking one of two things might have happened. One, your new library may not be showing up at all on the left hand side of the screen. If this is the case click the "more" button, find your new library, and "pin" it so it shows up. Second, if your library does show up on the left it may not be configured to automatically scan for new media. You can change your settings or you can do a manual scan by clicking the three dots next to your library and selecting "scan library files".

I hope that helps.

You need to make sure the folder you create in Plex matches the content you are putting in it. If you make a TV folder you need to add episodes to it. If you make a Movie folder you need to add movies. They won't show up otherwise.
