Read the 'fine print':

The lower priced units might merit some consideration but over $500 uh uh.

Hmmmm... this is reminding me that I never got my Epson rebate checks back...

My last Epson refurb experience was a disaster. Bought a scanner from them that was DOA. Shipped it at my expense to a third party repair place at Epson's behest, and they couldn't fix the thing, either. Nice way to waste about $280. Sad

What do you mean with "Nice way to waste about $280"; didn't you get a replacement or a refund???

maybe he shipped it overnight, fully insured?
