Economic performance is stronger when Democrats hold the White House

Some economist at Princeton did this study a while back and found the effect existed for the entire 20th century, if I recall correctly. People speculated about the result as to why, one explanation being that Democratic presidents concentrated more on reducing unemployment, whereas Republicans concentrated on keeping inflation low to nonexistent.

That’s largely a function of the Fed. Nixon tried fighting inflation with wage and price controls, and they were a failure. About the only thing a president can do is advocate for fiscal responsibility, and despite their rhetoric, the Republicans haven’t done that in 40+ years.

My completely un-researched and non-expert guess opinion is that republican policies are designed for money to flow UP where it just fills the coffers of those who don't need it. Nor do they invest it in a way that benefits the economy at large or create more jobs with it.

Democrat policies also benefit the wealthy, but in addition, they expand programs that help the general public. The hundreds of millions of people spending a little more money than usual is a lot more of a benefit than say, Betsy DeVos bringing her yacht count up to a dozen (or more by now).

But yeah, that's (what clueless conservatives call) socialism.
