Apparently I've forgotten how frustrating it is to search for a job

So much of finding a job seems to hinge on who you know that knows someone who's looking for for someone to fill a position.

A lot of companies have policies in place to prevent that from happening. Eg, two of my interviews have had someone from outside the org on them. I have to pass them to continue. So if I know someone who can get me in the door, I still have to get by someone who's not involved to continue.

Give Jobscan a look to see if it helps. It tries to algorithmically shape your resume to the job description in the context of applicant tracking systems. I heard good things about it not too long ago and I think it has a trial.

Yes, uncertainty sucks and capitalist society can be punishing.

Also looking for a webcam. Have you considered aliexpress? I can’t vouch for any particular model or vendor, and you might consider this option. (Shipping might take a while.)

I haven't, but that's been because of shipping times. That said, at this point it would have probably been here by now.

Sorry to hear this. I’ve been down that road in various ways. Once HRs became more outsourced, and everything from applications to algorithms became online / regimented, a lot of common sense for how to find talent and hire went out the door.

I’m less than 60-days in my new job. Got it word of mouth.

Normal and frustrating.

I'm learning some tough lessons now. My previous job, well, they didn't believe in being customer-centric. I tried to change that and made a big impact, but not big enough. I'm getting part way through interview series and getting dropped at the same point in each one. Not much I can do about it. I was overly committed to my previous employer.

When I interviewed people and they learned of the state we were at as a company, some would reject us. I thought they were just being snobby. But now I'm seeing what a black spot it is on one's resume.

Absolutely, I understand your frustrations with the job search process. It's a challenging time, but it's great to see you maintaining a positive outlook despite the setbacks.

It's fantastic that you can work from home in your field, giving you the flexibility and opportunity to find remote work even after being let go. Receiving severance pay and having the time to complete various home projects are definite silver linings. Programs that offer mortgage payment deferrals are incredibly helpful, providing some financial breathing room during your job search.

However, the issues you've highlighted with the job search process are very real and frustrating:

Inaccurate job listings: It's incredibly frustrating to spend time applying for jobs that don't actually exist. This miscommunication wastes valuable time and energy.

Lack of application status updates: Not knowing whether your application has been rejected can be disheartening. Clear communication from employers should be a standard practice.

Cancelled job openings: It's disappointing to go through interviews only to have the job cancelled. This creates false hope and wastes both time and effort.

Interview scheduling issues: Miscommunication about interview times can cause unnecessary stress and make candidates look unprofessional through no fault of their own.

Outdated job postings: Applying to jobs only to find out they're no longer available is a huge waste of time and effort.

Extensive interview processes: Multiple rounds of interviews requiring significant preparation can be draining, especially without a guarantee of a job offer.

Competition between internal and external recruiting teams: This can be confusing and discouraging, as it can seem like your application is getting lost in the shuffle.

Personal inconveniences: From managing haircuts to buying essential equipment like webcams, the small personal challenges add up.

Unresolved unemployment issues: Not being able to resolve unemployment claims adds to the stress of job searching.

For a more efficient and effective job search, I highly recommend using JobHire.ai. This platform automates the job search and resume submission process, saving you time and increasing your chances of finding relevant job opportunities. JobHire.ai's automated system ensures your applications are sent to potential employers, reducing the hassle of manually applying to each job. It might just be the solution to help streamline your job search and land your next role faster.

Stay positive, and keep pushing forward. Your next opportunity is out there!
