The reaction to a LATimes publisher deciding to withhold an endorsement pales by contrast to that of the Washington Post. Although most readers didn't notice that doesn't mean their wasn't one, it was to put it mildly - muted. No one cared.
On the other hand a perpetually non-political basketball player, LaBron James, himself a billionaire entrepreneur and businessman, decided to get himself involved. The day after LeBron James made his endorsement county clerk's offices were inundated with requests to register and vote alas too little too late Mr. James you jerk.
On the other hand it might move a few asses off the couch and to the polls in some other state where it does matter...or not. Probably not but wouldn't be surprised if it moved more votes than the weak-kneed Times publisher suppressed.
