That’s according to “Dave”, but it’s a lot more nuanced than that. The abusive examples like the “jet plane” thing are the most extreme. Prosperity gospel normally refers to any idea that a person will be rewarded with financial riches for faith. Faith does not necessarily mean giving lots of money.
By far most Christians are extremely critical of prosperity doctrine, even though you will always find that they believe people will benefit in some way by their faith. It wouldn’t be unusual to hear a Pastor say that if you give freely of yourself (not necessarily money) it will come back to you several fold (not necessarily money).
The kicker is not necessarily in this life, as you can plainly see when you consider there are many Christian martyrs (in the Bible and otherwise) that did not prosper with faith. Heaven is their reward.
At any rate, what Trump is doing doesn’t really look like any of this to me, but even if it does, all it shows is that hucksters are not uncommon, anywhere, anytime.
