bamboo vs cotton bath towels

I went with 100% cotton. $4.99. If it sucks, it gets relegated to car/bike wash duty.

$5 towels probably won’t be great, but at least they’re cotton.

Costco has amazing cotton towels - highly recommended.

My last purchase of towels was so disappointing. They were big and fluffy, but just pushed water around my skin.

Leaving them outside in the brutal UV for a while and then an aggressive washing or two improved them a bit, but the 30 year old towels that are falling apart that these were meant to replace are still here because they work much better...

Don’t use fabric softener with towels - it inhibits their ability to absorb.

** Update**

That $5 towel sucks. I've just run it through a wash again and it's hanging outside to dry. I actually thought about dropping by the local Holiday Inn to see if they'd sell me one that's been washed about a thousand times. But instead, I dropped by Savers and found one that doesn't feel fluffy and softy. I just ran it through another wash and it's hanging on the line outside right next to the one I bought the other day.

We'll see how these work out.

I bought Wirecutter recommendation (Frontgate Resort). They are amazingly good, but they are like 10 times more expensive than the $5 one.
