I watched the 2nd season of WL after friends & spouse told me how good it was.
While the players, direction, dialog, photography, were all good (especially the most annoying Jennifer Coolidge/Tanya). I could not get beyond 7 eps of low class rich white american trash that was the story line. In addition to the fact, the story conclusion was easy to see rather quickly.
As much as I like Parker Posey, I will not seek the 3rd term.
Incredibly dumb.
I have one ep to watch of Giri/Haji. Infinitely better story, and as such, the players all deliver, with a couple of subplots.
It's a little more to follow, but I don't feel like I wasted 7 hours of eye time like WL.
London & Tokyo are definitely not as pretty as Sicily.
Kelly MacDonald & Takehiro Hira are great in their lead rolls.
The direction is well paced and interesting, not intercut with pretty coastline pics.
Like Tokyo Vice, it is somewhat a fish out of water. TV was an American in Tokyo.
G/H is Japanese in London.
Will Sharpe plays 2 very different characters in these. He's very good.
Surely they are apples and oranges, but one is mostly seeds.
YMMD.
