The secret to long life really is travel. Well, high-speed intergalactic travel, but you get the idea.
Potentially habitable extra-solar planet found (Cool!)

[quote Tofer][quote Racer X]we should train Phylis Diller as an astronaut. She will probably still be alive when she gets there.
Ah, but the beauty of relativity is that you or I could potentially go somewhere that is 1000 light years away and in our personal time reference frame it might only take one year to get there. Your relatives on Earth would be long dead, but you'd be alive and kicking, checking out the cool new planet. -Tofer ummm... that's only as you approach the speed of light... even if you were AT the speed of light it would take 1.5 years to get there (that's from your perspective because you're inside the ship)...

Um... actually AT the speed of light, it would take you 20.5 years to get there... since it's 20.5 light years away.

Yes, but again: in your personal reference frame, you would only age a tiny bit, not 20.5 years (in fact, if you could travel at the speed of light, you wouldn't age at all). -Tofer |
