He's not that clever. (Sadly.)
As time goes on, I become more convinced that is exactly why they elected him pope: They didn't want someone clever or particularly smart and independent.

Whenever I see him, I have to do a double-take. It's like somebody else is wearing the Pope [JPII} costume! "Hey, who's that weird dude in the Pope's clothes?!"
Also: the guy is an idiot. I am Catholic. I do not support him at all nor do I condone his remarks. He's kind of like the Catholic Church version of W...just a destructive moran puppet who can't think for himself, has bad judgement when he does, and with enough power to make Really Bad Things happen.

It's strange that some should think that the Pope does not believe that the Catholic church is the only true church. Certainly you must have known that was his belief. I guess what you object to is that he voices his belief. It's what most Catholics believe.

> I guess what you object to is that he voices his belief.
What I object to is that he's so obnoxious about it. There's no diplomacy in Benedict's church. No reaching out. He repeatedly insults and derides people of other faiths and then instead of apologies, he explains that he was "misunderstood." [sarcasm] I didn't insult Jews. I didn't insult Muslims. I didn't insult Protestants. I just said you're all corrupt, your prophets and leaders are liars and tools of the devil and you'll all burn in hell. [/sarcasm] John Paul II was eloquent. Benedict is an oaf.

Well, he was a Nazi after all...

You must be an American Catholic. That doesn't count for much in the Vatican.

Aye...hasta le colleczione plato de oro arrividerci.
>I guess what you object to is that he voices his belief. No, as mentioned above, I object to the fact that he's an asshole about his belief. Beliefs are fine, right or wrong, everyone has them. It's how you communicate them that matters. >It's what most Catholics believe. And you're basing this statement on what? Some "most Catholics" figure you pulled out of your arse? That is such an old-school, patently ridiculous, pompous paradigm it hardly even deserves a retort. But this is that, so consider yourself retorted. |
