Notes from a Presidential Visit.. Cleveland
#1
So President Bush is in town for a visit today. My lovely wife was taking our future son in law to the airport where he's flying to San Antonio for two fun-filled months of Air Force Basic training. All exits had local police stationed, and they closed the airport just as she arrived (and AF1 arrived shortly after that). Her comment- "That is one big plane."

Saw this local article:

Bush: "Buy some sandwiches."

President Clinton tried pierogies when he visited Cleveland. President Bush, however, took in a different Cleveland specialty: corned beef sandwiches.

Bush and those in his motorcade ducked in Slyman's, at St. Clair Ave. and 31st Street, a few minutes ago. He ordered and then joined the lunchtime crowd, stopping to sit down at one table in particular. This, however, was not just an everyday diner crowd.

I've eaten their sandwiches. They are basically a heart attack on a plate. Good thing he's going to the Cleveland Clinic next...

President Bush made a 20-minute stop at the Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Center, where he performed a simulated brain surgery.

Standing before a rubber replica of a human brain, the president moved a hand-control that helps teach doctors how to implant deep brain stimulation devices. He did so under the watchful eye of neurosurgeon Ali Rezay."

What I object to is that he thinks visiting that city somehow gives him license to use the "I just flew in from Cleveland, and boy are my arms tired" line to start his press conference this morning. It's just not Presidential.
