quick OWC enclosure info question
#1
I picked up a used drive in a OWC Mercury Elite enclosure -
This is the FW 400 only/USB2 3.5" IDE box
I just wondered if anyone knows the capacity of hard drive ths box will support.

This item seems to be recently discontinued at OWC and the specs are no longer on the site so far as I could find. I'm satisfied with what I got etc - it has a 120gb drive in it.
After the fact I tried to look up this info and could only find this box was sold by OWC with different hard drives included as a package up to 250gb. But don't know it that is the max. Just want to know for possible future reference, thanks

This is the Elite and not the "Elite Pro"

thanks

This one goes up to 500GB. I'm not sure if this is the one you have or not.

If an enclosure will handle a 250 GB drive, it'll handle the largest drive sold - a 1 TB one.

All of our 'Elites' are Elite Pro....

We haven't offered a 120GB solution option for around two years....

But all of our current enclosures in 2004 and later were the ATA6 for over 128GB. In 2003, there was a phase in would depend.

Can always fire us an e-mail with the s/n, can tell you for sure with that. Also won't hurt it either way if you try a larger drive in it.

We continue to offer Elite Pro FireWire only enclosure kits... Also been about 2 or 3 years since we offered a FireWire 400 only Elite Model solution (with HD).

Hope that helps.

OWC Larry -

Thanks for offering to look this up, especially since it's not direct sales question (I have bought things from you guys)

Without the boring details this was a needed replacement gadget - bought for the case more than the drive (the drive is a handy bonus for the time being) - my first Craigslist venture and I'm pleased. But, yes, may want to put a bigger drive in some day...

You didn't say who to write to exactly - so I'll ask here for starters.

S/N on the enclusre is :

If there's a more convenient place for you that I should send this to, just say the word.

Thanks
