I like it. Good voiceover. Brief, quick edits. To the point. Not bad.

It would be easier to just use the external drive to back up your data and then just take the darn drive with you _along_ with the cable.
Cute, but a time-waster.

Yes, taking the drive with you is much better if you are really concerned about security. But if you are just hiding potentially, uh, embarrassing files, this is a more convenient solution.

Take the 2.5" external bus-powered drive ( Firewire or USB ) with you.
Put any data you want to keep secure on a PGPDisk partition you created on the above drive: http://www.philzimmermann.com/EN/sales/index.html

or just create an encrypted disk image.

I wonder if the FBI knows about this trick. You always see them confiscating huge amounts of computer equipment as part of criminal investigations, hauling it off to some lab... Well they probably know about it now, but I wonder how many crooks have been doing this for some time to hide illegal materials.

Thats why I hide my drives in the floorboards.

Thats why I hide my drives in the floorboards. I put all my important stuff in a hollowed-out book named "Gestapo Tactics 101." They're so used to seeing it they totally gloss over it. |
