I noticed that, too.
It's still not good, but it's totally tolerable and far more than I expected from her.

Have the Grammys ever been anything more than a flavor-or-the-month popularity contest? Remember, Taste of Honey was voted Best New Artist over Elvis Costello years ago.
Anything on the Grammys that exhibits a trace of appreciation for real artistic merit is purely by accident.

If you're thinkin' you're too cool to boogie
Boy oh boy have I got news for you
Everybody here tonight was boogin'
Let me tell you
You are no exception to the rule

>bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey.
Bonnie Raitt's last album was so-so. Sheryl Crow's was fricken so boring, I couldn't listen to a whole song on it. Gwen Stafani's is good in a way, but kind of silly. I honestly haven't heard Mariah's, but out of these, I guess it would have to be the one that could have been picked over KC's. My kids love that KC's album, and I must confess, I like it a lot more than I would have guessed. But I understand it isn't "serious" music (neither are the others, really). kj.

Kelly the cow can't sing live. I'd bet she was probably auto tuned for the disc.
Bonnie kicks butt and is every bit contemporary.
It's just that Kelly kind of white pop never goes out of style and is more bankable. But if talent was the real $, Kelly'd be broke and Bonnie would be the bank.
No comparison

I think she's quite talented and I've seen her live and thought she was fine in a show that she thought was so bad, she cancelled several shows and let everyone at the show I went to get free tickets for another show before they went on sale to everyone else. I wish she'd drop some of the rock stuff which tends to drown out her voice.

Was the award for the best career talent? No, it was for an album. And bonnie raitt's was the same album she's been putting out for many years now, sheryl crow's was boring as hell, and Gwen's was goofy (meow!). And I've seen all three live, and like them a lot. I don't think it's such an odd choice. Mariah, I haven't seen or heard. She does make that squeal noise really good.
My most listened to band right now is Clutch, but just because I like it, I don't expect awards for them. The above types are award types of music, and I can see that, but that doesn't diminish my enjoyment of music that will never get awards (and shouldn't). kj.
