What's causing the eMac fuzzies?
#1
been swamped lately, not much sleep, etc., but reasonably new eMac has case of video fuzzies, that is more than just my own bleary eyes. confirmed by many others. video goes out of focus at a couple of resolutions (maybe more) for several minutes, times of fuzziness not consistent, then goes back into focus on its own. unit only a few months old, but had internal board of some sort replaced when only one week old, after "new computer smell" did not subside, and there was noticable hot spot on side of computer. been working well ever since, except fan has seemed slightly noisier since early childhood repair, until last couple of weeks when fuzzies appeared. any ideas? or take it into the shop? thanks,

Buzz

Take the EconoMac to the shop, IMHO.

thanks Larry, didn't know if there was some sort of utility program that controls/tweaks video output. neighbor that used to help carry stuff moved away a few months ago, and my 11 y.o. son isn't quite ready to tackle an emac down the stairs yet; getting to shop isn't as easy now days, so was hoping for non-transportable option(s)...

Buzz, do you have AppleCare?
If you do, call Apple, explain to them that your are HandiCapable, they will send someone from a local Apple repair place to pick it up, fix it, and bring it back.

Be patient, be nice, it may take going up a couple of levels in Apple's hierarchy to get action.

BGR got the solution there... Unfortunately, it's not a software app that can fix what is likely a flaking invertor board or a focus on the CRT.

do have AC, and have had service calls on high end machines before w/ more complicated configurations, after, as you say "going up a couple of levels". this is (obviously) pretty stock situation even though it's fully loaded; emac/1GB RAM/APE/tilt-swivel/screen with fuzzies...

oops, last item not supposed to be part of config. Smile will call AC later this afternoon.

bummer it sounds like hardware, though. thanks guys
