In some states, it's legal to exceed the speed limit when passing if the highway you're only only has one lane in each direction. So if the speed limit is 60, someone could easily exceed 85 passing.

YES! YES!
sign me up. although, i have to admit, i would much rather have a large trailer with a sign displaying the speed than stand outside with a "gun" pointed at the offending cars. i would be worried about the ramifications, too. but a sign? i'll help pay for it and buy the cops the coffee and doughnuts to sit outside my house with their blues lit up. things are so bad around here that i have actually thought about purchasing a sign to display on my own lawn, but unfortunately i'm a bit hidden behind a large tree so it would not do too much. my street widens out so much that people feel at ease to speed far beyond the limit. our limits locally are 30mph on side streets, which is still too high, but people using my street routinely hit 45 or 50mph. |
