First Screen lockup on New Mac Pro.
#11
Regarding the internet issues, I bought a new MacMini a few months ago to get buy until the new MacPros were released. The Mini is the only Leopard on my LAN, I have several PC’s and a MDD dual 1.25 and a constant flow of client computers of all varieties. My LAN has been rock solid for years but ever since introducing the Mini with Leopard my router get knocked offline every time the mini is shut down or restarted, requiring a simple power cycle of the router to restore. The mini is strictly for testing so I have not devoted much time to it, but I can say there seems to be something going on regarding networking and Leopard. So don’t rule that out yet. I expect to find out more when my new MacPro arrives on Monday.
Also regarding “Remember” don’t put too much faith in memory tests as mentioned above. I have seen bad ram pass a test and I have seen good RAM fail a test. Just out of curiosity I ran “Remember” on my MDD and it reports a failure but the machine has been running perfectly for over two years.

The very good RAM tester is "Rember", not "Remember".

When it comes to technical details!!
Too many years as a tech writer, little screw ups like that can have a good technician running in circles.

Well, been running fine since the lockup last night. No hangs on web browsing too. Glad I don't have the sleep and shutdown issues.........crossing fingers. Thanks. When I order the next 4 gbs of ram, I'll probably take out the apple 2 gbs and run at 8 gbs.

It sounds like the freezing problem that is relatively common with the 2008 Mac Pros. It has nothing to do with memory. The ATI video card and/or driver software is a suspect. Not that it's impossible for memory to be the cause but I think it's much more likely to be that general freezing problem reported on xlr8yourmac.com.
