Where can I download the Apple Hardware Test
#1
Hey I recently purchased a Digital Audio Powermac G4 and it came without its Apple Hardware Test CD.

There's nothing outwardly wrong with it, but it does seem to have very odd KPs and crashes at unique times. I ran through the regular suspects: RAM, poorly seated PCI cards, etc. and didn't come up with anything . . .

So anyway I'd like to run the AHT, but do not have the CD. I've looked and can't find one to download online. I've heard rumors if you're a member of Apple Pro Support you can download the disc. However I can't find any more info about how to subscribe to Apple Pro Support.

Does anyone know where I can download a disc? Does anybody have one they could copy for me? According to Mactracker I can use any AHT disc for the Powermac from versions 1.2 to 1.2.7. My specific version of the Digital Audio Power Mac is the single processor 733 MHz.

You have to be an Apple certified repair technician to get to Apple Pro Support. A local repair shop should be able to loan you a copy of the disk if you ask nicely. Otherwise, perhaps ask on craigslist or see if you have a local MUG.

I need it also. Why is it so hard to get? It not like it's
something someone would copy and sell.

Usenet. FastTrack. The usual sources. It may take you awhile to find it, tho.

Oh, and it's illegal to get it that way.

This is what sucks about the AHT CD. My original CD had known issues MDD 1Ghz Dualie, I was able to get a new one sent to me direct from Apple. They shipped me a CDR of the new AHT CD.

Apple should make this test downloadable.
