I posted a free item (a laser toner cartridge) to Craigslist tonight and about 15 minutes later got an email from someone who wants it. And a few seconds later got an email from Craigslist saying my posting had been flagged and removed. Is this how it works with Craigslist free listings? The first person who wants it flags it so other claimants won't see it?

I can see that as a strategy (not that I agree with it), but it takes more than one to actually pull the ad. If it only takes two or three, I guess it wouldn't be that difficult.

I'd say that whoever does something like that is hitting at least a 9 on the jerkoff scumbag scale.

Explain to the schmuck why you'd rather sprinkle the toner on your french toast and eat it than sell it to him, then copy your response to CL.

If I found out he was the guy who did indeed flag it for that reason mentioned above, I'd be inclined to repost the deal and ignore his request.

One person can't flag a listing down.
Probably some other reason you're being flagged (miscategorized, etc.)

Headline said "Free black toner cartridge for Tektronix 740 laser printer--Loop 60604"
Body said "New in package. Pick up at office near Jackson/Wabash."
I posted in Free section, no picture.
What could get me flagged?

[quote Black Landlord]One person can't flag a listing down.
Well, it's not ultrasimple to do so, but it's not that difficult either.
