Tonado Alarms at 3:10 AM.... I'm sooo tired
#1
A nasty thunderstorm cell blew through last night, and they fired off the Tornado alarms. for the first time in my memory of living in the area (13 years now). We have a full set of alarms because we have a nuclear power plant in the area (I live just outside the 'prompt evacuation' area).

Many terrified children woke me up (Ok, three, but they were moving and fluttering around so fast there seemed to be a dozen of 'em).Fired up the macbook, F12, look at the radar, read the alert. look outside. It was windy and raining hard, but the sky was not 'green' or deep black (I've been around tornadoes before)

Then I remembered that the nearest trailer park is about 5 miles from where we live. So i went back to bed.

Happened to us some months ago and, in similar fashion, the trailer park is about 5 miles down the highway. And, naturally, where the tornado struck. Lots (and lots) of downed trees and damaged trailers. Long, long night.

Happened here not too long ago. I spent the better part of a day and night running into the basement with 2 scared dogs.

Last weekend some sort of crazy storm hit Midtown Atlanta in the neighborhood where I was pet sitting. Took down some major power poles, transformers and trees. They did not call it a tornado, but there was circulation of debris in the air. Lighting hit all over the city, several fires.

Better to be safe than sorry when you hear those alarms. Keep a bag with a flashlight, etc. by the basement door.
