Got an iPhone today, but-
#1
I have NO reception at home.
Nada.
Zero.
No bars.

Love the thing, but I need to have phone service. Reception is fair here, but this thing has nothing. Back to AT&T tomorrow, I suppose.

Even with the 2.1 firmware update? I went from 3 bars to 5 at home when I did the update.

What do you mean "Reception is fair here"? Are you talking about AT&T reception or some other network? If AT&T has fair reception where you live then you should be able to get the iPhone to work, since it is a fairly good phone in that regard. Debugging should be all that's needed. However, if you're talking about comparing to Verizon or Sprint etc, then it's apples and oranges since they have completely different tower networks.

We have fair ATT coverage here (boonies). Nearest 3G is 100 miles away.

I guess that I need to sync the phone and update it. Thanks for the tip.

The only place you are guaranteed at least 5 bars at home is prison.

Well, that made a difference!
Upgrading from 2.02 to 2.1 helped greatly, now I have 2 bars, back where I was.

Thanks very much!
