Thought this was an interesting analysis of the "socialism" charge and Obama response

I can appreciate the thinking behind McCain's attacks. He wants to characterize Obama as some kind of extremist, and "socialist" is one of those tried-and-false smears Republicans have been using for decades. But it's a foolish strategy, as evidenced by Obama's remarks -- McCain has put himself in a position where Obama gets to defend a middle-class tax cut that McCain is attacking. What genius on McCain's staff came up with that idea?

I think the last two months have shown us that there are exactly zero geniuses anywhere in McCain's proximity.

Thanks for the link, it is an interesting analysis.

For that matter, what's the opposite of "spreading" the wealth? Concentrating it, which is effectively what McCain wants to do with his own economic plan -- keep as much wealth as possible at the top, and wait for it to trickle down.

What's interesting to me in all this Joe the Plumber media insanity is this:

Joe never said HE made $250K a year. Obama ridiculed him for making that much,
so did Biden. But that's not what he said. He said he was HOPING to buy the BUSINESS
he works for, and the BUSINESS made just over $250K last year.
Surely Obama has seen the tape of himself with Joe, and yet he chooses to ridicule this
ordinary American with goals for a better life and the ridicue was not even true.
How can Obama be trusted with our finances? He cannot be trusted with any truth.
All of you Obama supporters out there - I hope you're really thinking about this. Your
guy has been lying to us - to YOU -about a conversation we've all seen with our own
eyes and ears. Thank you Joe the Plumber! You are our Acorn. May the tree grow large and strong.
What happened is that the arrogant mulatto Messiah let the cat out of the bag:
"Spread the wealth around!. Spread the wealth around. Spread the wealth around!"
But I think it is too late. The genie is out of the bottle, and even the mainstream media won't
be able to get it back in.

Obama would gladly take back his "spreading the wealth around" comment if he could. Lesson learned: don't leave home without a teleprompter.
