Two unrelated peeves bugging me this morning
#11
they could just pull up next to people and use their loudspeaker to say "excuse me -- when your wipers are on, your headlights need to be on as well, its the law" -- no goofy ticket, just a friendly "hey"

but i also wish they would do that with people who drive year round with their fog lights on, one of them usually pointing crazy into your eyes -- if it aint foggy, then why have your fog lights on?

jdc- lots of those are 'always on' lights from da automakers. Many states also have 'fog lights = bright lights' rules that are also not enforced. Not to mention the tinted driver's windows.

Try driving in the metro Detroit area. The second worst place to drive in the country-second only to Miami. People here make up their own rules and feel like they should get paid to use a turn signal.

Here in Gemeny most people put their lights on as soon as visibility drops. Some other countries are better at it. Daytime headlights/driving lights will be EU-wide obligatory as of beginning ot 2010.

Curious idiotic law in Germany. You cannot put on rear fog-lights in heavy rain. Only in fog with visibility under 50 meters. My view is that if someone behind is getting irritated by very bright rear lights, they are too close to you.

I really wish that the cops would enforce the lights on with wiper use law.

Same here.

I'm not one to bash the Po-Po for the fun of it, but one truth is-- just like crooks, they don't want to go out it the rain.

And given that the fines are light and they aren't a point on one's driving record (like all lights and lighting stops/violations) there is just not the incentive for drivers to comply or officers to site.

what's wrong with a 10 second video clip, complete with license plate. Just mail the ticket? Its legal for traffic cams, why not for this?

An on-view violation with video corroboration, citation-by-mail, staying warm and toasty.

I'll drink to that.

Do the police do that in your state?
