DNA portraits and "mixed" DNA
#1
Want to get a DNA portrait that has my dna mixed with wife's dna. They want quite a bit extra to mix the two samples so could I just swap both of our cheeks with the one swab effectively mixing our cells and resultant dna? Would the lab know what I did? Would they think that I am 4n? Would they think I am some sort of unusual chimera? Can you think of any reason why my technique wouldn't work?

Well, you're certainly a special snowflake.

It depends.

If they pay attention, they're likely to notice there's both xx and xy in there... but since they're only producing a gel-image, it's possible they won't even look.

I'd never heard of such a thing. All I can think is...odd.

I thought they may notice too many alleles.
