Did a Google, found this:

Being the cheapskate I am, please add anything you prefer and perhaps a brief review or description.

Thanks & Happy New Year To All,

Those are Open Source, there are still free Mac Apps that are not Open Source.

Text Wrangler is an example of one that I use quite a bit.

Just found my bookmark of this site that someone on the forum provided a while back. Lots of free stuff for the Mac.

Thanks for the FreeMac link, cool.

What program would you (or anyone reading this thread) use as an Illustrator replacement?

Technically it's not "free", but the demo of GraphicConverter never really expires (I don't think), the nag screen when you launch it just takes longer and longer to end. So given that, I'd say GraphicConverter is the best program you never have to pay for.

Will DrawIt open Illustrator files?

The first one that popped into my head is MenuMeters. It's free and it's here - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17713

Lots of valuable system information is easily accessible/seen in the menu bar, and takes very little memory, and is very flexible in the configuration possibilities. Works with OSX 10.2 through Leopard. Go to the link for much more information.

iStat Menus; indispensable if you've got an Intel Mac.
