Email Hijacked
#1
Just got an email from UK asking me to cease with the dirty spam. His email even has my street address.

What's next?

Probably a scam. You respond and get on a SPAM list....ignor it. You probably are just on a short SPAM list now.

Often, PC viruses will send spam to everyone in someone's address book or mail-cache, masquerading as other people from that same address book or mail-cache.

Unless you've been getting a lot of bounce messages lately, I'm guessing that something similar happened here.

'Nothing much to do about it unless you get spam from the same PC user. Then you can check the IP address of the sender and maybe figure out which of your friends/family/associates has gotten the virus and warn them.

If you've been getting bounce messages ("Returned Mail" or "Delivery Status Notification" messages) from strangers then some spammer is (probably temporarily) using addresses at your domain name as a false sender. In this case, there's nothing you can do about the situation except wait for the spammer to move on to using the next poor sap's domain.

Our domain at work got used this way once. A flood for a few days, but then it trickled off pretty quickly.
