I bought a Panasonic RP-BT10 Bluetooth transmitter/receiver for my 5G iPod, and it works like a champ.
While I have no need to link it up with my personal MacBook Pro (late 2007,) out of curiosity, I tried the Panasonic receiver to see if it would work for listening to my iTunes library, and it did.
At work I listen to a hefty (larger than would fit on my iPod) iTunes library via wired headphones on a non-Bluetooth equipped Mac Pro which I would LOVE to make wireless.
I bought a couple of inexpensive USB Bluetooth "dongles" to see if either would work on the Mac Pro with the Panasonic headset.
Although both dongles do work generally in accessing nearby Bluetooth items (I can connect to several coworkers Macs,) and although I can get the Mac Pro to "see" the RP-BT10 receiver, I cannot get either dongle to connect to the RP-BT10 for "headset" audio transmitting.
Questions are:
1. What might the difference(s) be between the MacBook Pro's Bluetooth transmitter that CAN connect to the RP-BT10 and the dongles on the Mac Pro that CANNOT?
2. Is there a brand/model of USB dongle that WILL correctly connect the Mac Pro to the RP-BT10?
Thanks.
