Parental Controls blocks Gmail?

most times parental controls works well but sometimes it's just weird. for some reason it blocks gmail. gmail in the administrator account is fine but not in the controlled account. i've entered the url in the exception list but no go.

what is it about gmail that is triggering this? maybe some of the ad links on the page or something?

other benign pages are blocked also but this one is a recurring annoyance for my son.

There doesn't appear to be anyway to block spam going to my gmail account. It goes to the Spam older and after so many days it is deleted, but in a weeks time it amounts to several hundred spam emails. In Hotmail you have the option of never seeing the spam because you can opt to have it deleted immediately.
