Apple F - Find not working anymore
#1
Tried a fast forum search but no luck in what I am asking.

My FIND feature quit working in OSX 10.4.11.

Have repaired permissions. Restarted a few times.
It just spins when I send it to find a file I see on the desktop.

What am I forgetting to do?

Not sure it's related, but is Spotlight currently busy indexing?

In the Spotlight pref's of your System Pref's there's a Privacy tab.

With the privacy options showing, drag and drop your hard drive icon onto the pref's window.

Make sure the drive name and icon show up in the list of places that Spotlight is not supposed to search.

Close the window and go do something for a few minutes.

Go back into the Spotlight pref's and remove the drive from the list.

Wait awhile for Spotlight to re-index your drive. 'Could take a couple of hours.

Then try searching again.

Try another User. If that works, then it is a preference problem in your Home /Library/Preferences.

Will set up a new user and try that.

So how do I repair my preferences?

Started up under a diff. user and it searches the drives just fine.
