I am longtime fan, ever since hearing Mom and Dad playing him on the car trips...

RIP. A name I haven't heard in a long time, but I still remember the music.

Don't know him? Take a listen.

His version of 'Blackbird' had more than Paul's blessing too.

I just read about it. I'm really saddened by his loss as I have been a huge fan since the 70's. I missed an opportunity to see him a few months back. I was really looking forward to his next record. His last was excellent.

RIP, Kenny.

Way, way, waaaay back in the day, I was a member of a three person entertainment committee at college that hired a then 'hardly known' John Denver for a Spring concert.

When we picked Mr. Denver up at the airport he had a friend with him, who he'd invited to sit in with him: Kenny Rankin.

Their 'rehearsal / soundcheck' is probably the best 'show' I've ever seen or heard. Wish that there had been a way to record it.

The show that night was absolutely wonderful; within a year John Denver was at the top of the charts and his phenomenal career had begun to skyrocket.

Sail on, Kenny ... your sweet voice will live on forever.
