'Dollhouse' sits out November sweeps
Friday's episode of "Dollhouse" is one of the better ones the series has put forth so far. It's also the last one you'll get to see for a while.
FOX has decided to bench its regular Friday lineup for the November sweeps period, which begins Thursday, Oct. 29. "Dollhouse" and "'Til Death" will go on hiatus, while "Brothers" will join the network's Sunday lineup. It's also probably safe to say that the moves don't say good things about the long-term prospects for any of the three shows.
A rerun of the two-hour "House" season premiere will air on Friday, Oct. 30, and "House" and "Bones" repeats will fill the night through November.
"Dollhouse" will return Friday, Dec. 4 with back-to-back episodes featuring the first appearance by Summer Glau. The double runs will continue through Dec. 18, leaving three of the show's 13 episodes to run in 2010.
"Brothers," meanwhile, will move to 7 p.m. Sundays starting Nov. 8. Reruns of the show have aired on a couple of Sundays this fall, and they've done just as well there as the originals have on Fridays.
The network hasn't said when or where "'Til Death" will go, but that's nothing new: The show lasted seven episodes last fall before being pulled, was renewed despite not airing for the rest of season and will now go away again after just four airings.
As has been the case for several years now, FOX has been unable to draw viewers to its Friday schedule with any regularity. "Dollhouse" is averaging only 2.83 million viewers a week, and it's the best performer for FOX on the night. "Brothers" has been drawing 2.51 million viewers and "'Til Death" 2.37 million.
