Please help; G4 MDD Dual 1.25 would not boot or power up; installed new power supply and boots right up but now goes to

I've clipped a AA battery temporarily to where a dead battery was just to make sure that's all it needs.

PCI and ram sockets are easily disturbed in old motherboards.
Doesn't have to be dust or dirt, it can be just the tiniest bit of tarnish on the contacts and not much of a nudge.
Yanking them out and reseating will either work or spread the grunge around requiring a good cleaning or insertion into the next available socket if available.

You put a 1.5v AA Alkaline in the place of a 3.6v 1/2 AA Lithium?

Great idea!

Yes apparently the keep alive circuit requires quite a bit minimum lower voltage.
It sure as hell doesn't care what the voltage is made with.

I've done it with old Performas as well.
works fine.

I don't recommend using a 9 volt battery. Not smart.
