Daylight Savings Time
#31
We've lost our evening darkness where I live already anyway so may as well take it back some more so that we can have some morning light.

Here's an interesting proposal: http://www.standardtime.com/proposal.html

I suspect the extra daylight is having an effect on fil's alleged mind. Had they joined another time zone he'd be happier but the sun will still rise and set when it wants.

See - you all made fun of us here because my state would not bend to the DST cabal

We would be the ridicule of news stories every year along with our AZ brethren that we were backwards
because we refused to fall in line and change the clocks.

Two years ago our stupid governor decided that we should join in with the rest of the world and adopt DST,
but instead of aligning with Central Time we aligned with Eastern. Now it is still light at 10:00 p.m. in the summer - brilliant !

BTW - because we made the change it allowed for a real comparison of the "energy saving" which turn out to be false.
It actually wastes energy to observe DST

... not to mention he now quotes a Murdoch publication to justify himself. All is lost.

This was George Bush's Congress'senergy policy

Fixed that for ya. GWB never had an energy policy to speak of. But yeah, Daylight savings time is so weird and stupid.

Say what? Are the Daylight Saving Time-haters serious? Sheesh.

Regardless of what branch of government or executive administration folks want to blame, or give credit to, it's an idea that goes back to Benjamin Franklin.

Daylight Saving time wasn't instituted until the 20th century. It was adjusted by Congress in the '70s, '80s, and again in 2007. It's credited with conserving ten thousand of barrels of oil a day, which is why it was extended. In the last few decades it's saved millions of barrels of oil, conserving billions of dollars.

Benjamin Franklin, what a cowboy! He claimed people can save lamp oil? And claims it would be thrifty, wise, and save money? Who cares if it conserves fuel? What a silly idea!

Here in soggy Seattle, in the far Northwest corner of the U.S., we LOVE Daylight Saving Time. We can use all the light we can get!

So your forte` is no longer the dampening of light? Good to hear that.

Huh? Do you realize that you're not getting more? Or do you not have to get up until 9 AM?

I like more light, too: I don't see how it helps me to get up in the freakin' dark in March and November. Nor do I understand how this BS saves fuel: how does that work? Why can't we at least cut back on this crap, and do it from the beginning of May to the end of September?

6-8 weeks (at least) of inadequate sleep following the spring time change make me irritable and very, very tired. I am not able to fall asleep and get up an hour earlier just because the stinkin' clock is lying to me.
