NYC hotel recommendations
#1
The wife and I will be in NYC for the weekend of July 4th for a wedding, and I've come a lookin' for some hotel recs. My wife lived in the city for 5 years, and would like to stay in the village, SOHO, somewhere downtown (but not too downtown, like the financial) (ok, I hope I didn't botch any of those places, as I'm not too NYC savvy. Please, turn off the flame-throwers).

We are looking for something nice. We are 30 something professionals looking for a nice weekend away from the kids. But, I'm always on the lookout for a deal.

Thanks

Although I've lived in NYC for my entire life. I've never actually stayed in a NYC hotel. So i can't help you there. But if you have any questiions regarding areas (convenience, safety, noise, etc..) i'll be glad to help.

Here's a thought,,,
You might want to get a high hotel room all the way on the EastSide in midtown (30's-40's)with a view of the East River to catch the Macy's fireworks display on July 4th.

Wife and I have gone to NYC a few times the past three years. I've used Priceline and have been very satisfied.

Stayed at the Salisbury for 3 days. Old but taken good care of. Great location

You might also want to try just renting an apartment off Craig's List for that time period as well. A lot of people rent out their spiffy studios or one bedrooms for the comparable cost or cheaper than a hotel room. Put $200 as your max for the search or whatever your limit is.

NYC Sublet Section $200 or less search

NYC Vacation Rentals Section $200 or less search

Good luck...
