Okay, so Safari isn't as smart anymore?
#1
Used to be, if I entered a name ( e.g., "belightsoft" ) and hit enter, Safari would automatically fill in the .com part and take me there. Nowadays, it typically gives me a "the domain cannot be found" or similar, prompting me to do a Google search. Did I miss a memo or something?

Who's your ISP?

DNS redirect? Do you get the actual site not found error or do you get a branded google search site? Are you using OpenDNS?

I typed belightsoft in the URL window and got this:

http://www.belightsoft.com/main.php

I am not using any DNS s/w other than what comes with SL.

It must be something on your end, as it still works the same for me.

Sorry; have been away. Comcast. For ages, it's been Comcast.

Comcast started redirecting DNS for "broken" lookups to their own branded search page. Maybe this broke Safari's domain autocomplete. Also worth checking to see if you still have the autocomplete setting enabled in Safari. Does the problem persist in another account?
