Cat 1, Wife 0
#11
cbelt3 does have a very stubborn wife. I hope the silence means he took her back to the ER and not that she cold-cocked him when he tried. Sad

OK, cbelt3 - check in and let us know you're OK!

the world would be a better place if people and felines could communicate more effectively.

She's sleeping. The hand is still warm. She's had Augmentin for 24 hours now- three doses. Antibiotics usually take a day for them to hit her. She refused to go to the ER, as the urgent care doc said to keep an eye on it for 24-48 hours. So I'm keeping watch on her.

The wounds bled quite a lot after the cat was convinced to let go (damn cat), and that helped with the initial 'clean out'. She's cleaned the sites out with saline and repacked them with antibiotic ointment three times.

And damn skippy she's a stubborn woman. She's put up with me for 27 years of marriage. Gotta have a head like granite for that !

I'm giving her tonight to rest. In the AM if it's not getting better she's going to the ER either in the car on in the ambulance. I'm afraid I'm a bit too weak and busted up to carry her. (If I tried to lift her my two hernias would blow all the way open, and I'd be in the ER right next to her. My surgery is later this month. Yay ! :confusedSmile

After soaking the cat in hot water, tend to your wife afterwards.

I agree - cat needs to go... 16 year old cat: has had enough of a life. Luckily it wasn't a 3 yr old child.

My Dad had a similar incident with his cat trying to get her away from another cat, both lived in the house. She grabbed onto his hand and bit onto his thumb and then did the kick scratch thing along his arm with her back legs. Didn't look very serious at first but then the next day you could see a red infection spreading along his veins down the arm. Getting him to the hospital was not a big deal since he works there, so he just went off to work like normal and got fixed up. The cat never attacked like that again, but she always was and still is very short tempered and will not hesitate to take a swipe at you.

I'm at work, she's better. fever broke, swelling is down, red zone on the hand appears to be receding. I'll go back later this morning and check it again.

The cat has had rabies shots. And she's German, I'm Irish/Scottish, and we're BOTH Leos. It's kind of a potential WWIII combination, but we make it work  We were talking last week on our 27th anniversary about how we really don't have big arguments any more. Mostly we go off to our corners and sulk !
