Problem with Mail
#1
When I begin a new message in Mail 2.07 I get an error saying that Mail cannot save this message. This seems to have started as a result of my upgrade (combo) to 10.4.6
Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it? I ran Permissions Repair before and after the upgrade and started on a separate partition to run First Aid after the upgrade. This didn't solve the problem. I have a 2GHz dual processor PowerMac. Thanks for your help.

Look at your mail.app prefs and uncheck "Store draft messages on the server" if it is checked. I used to have the same problem you described back when I was in 10.2.x, then I figured out that pref setting thing. Mail is automatically trying to save draft emails as you are composing them to your mail server. Uncheck that pref and it will just save your drafts on your local machine as it should.

Thanks for the reply Joycee. I don't have these options in my Mail 2.07 prefs but it did prompt me to carefully go thru all the options. I made a couple of changes and will see what happens.

I'm still using 10.3.9 and Mail 1.3.11, so I don't know what kind of prefs you've got in the newer version of Mail, but your problem is exactly the one I had back when I was in Jaguar and did an update. I found that the "save drafts to server" pref was enabled, which was causing that very annoying error message. Drove me batty!

Please do check back and post how you solved the problem (if it is resolved) - someone from the future may search back here looking to solve a similar problem. Wink
