First post from my mini 10v hackintosh
#1
After reading on Gizmodo awhile ago about how easily Hackintoshed the mini 10v is, I finally decided to take the plunge and give it a try. It proved to be surprisingly easy to get up to 10.6.2, with the available tools out there. As far as I can tell, everything works. Webcam, speakers, microphone (haven't tested the audio in/out), and even sleep. The LED backlit screen's bright and sharp, and the keyboard, while still not terrific, is much better than the mini 9. It's wider, without the funky layout, and while the keys are too flat, and the feel's a bit cheap and clattery, it's certainly possible to touch-type pretty quickly. Much faster than with the 9. Still not as good as the keyboard on my Acer Aspire One, though. I do find I make more typos than on my Apple BT keyboard, though.

With just one GB of RAM, the performance is surprisingly acceptable. It's not exactly zippy, but I think if I don't pile on the bells and whistles, it'll be just fine. One day when I'm feeling brave, I'll tear it apart and bump it up to 2GB.

Right now this is the perfect little machine to toss in a bag and use for email, web and writing. I'm pretty happy with it!

Congrats on the successful hack.

My current project is creating a dual boot (SL and Win 7) HP mini 311-1000nr.

Will report back if/when I'm successful.
