Do they make portable scanners?
#1
Please read this question before you flame me (coughBGRcough).
I'm stuck paying half of one of my tenant's utility bills and I need a way to get a copy of the bills on-site.

Is there such a thing as a portable scanner that stores the info for later downloading to a computer?

I really don't want to drag my laptop around.

Can't tell from any of the portable scanners I find online whether they work this way.

Thanks!

HP made a great one. . .black and white only. . .

HP Capshare 920 (last model - even harder to find)

HP Capshare 920

HP Capshare 910 (penultimate model - I have this)

HP Capshare 910

BUT they discontinued it years ago. . .AND now they are in high demand so they go for high prices. . .

I was able to get one when they first came out so only paid the original price. . .IT is AMAZING. ..best portable scanner I have ever had (though I've only tried one other one)

You can transfer what you scan to a computer in pdf format or beam it IR to a printer (perfect for my HP 5mp laserjet). . .

You run it up and down what you are scanning and it detects when either the edge of the paper or when you lift the scanner up from the paper. . .

I thought if selling it but. . .it is so great that I can't give it up. . .

I know you probably won't be able to get it (even though they are on ebay but last time I checked @ high prices) BUT keep an eye out for it and maybe you can get it for a cheaper price. . .

I saw something like what you're talking about featured on one of the network news programs earlier this week, and the reporter who tried it out swears it works! I'm not sure I have a link to the right one, but it sounded familiar. The one they were demonstrating had a small hard drive in it that was able to store either data or photos. I know they were scanning a photo.

What you want does exist.
