iTunes enhancers: is SRS iWOW the best?
#1
Anyone using SRS iWOW Premium iTunes plugin for enhanced sound?

Is that the only iTunes sound enhancer out there? I used to use one put out by ... Bose I think. But it died back in Tiger I think. It was great, so I'm thinking of buying iWow.

I still use Volume Logic. No longer updated but my version still works.

I don't think Volume Logic and iWow have the same purpose, though a function or two may overlap.

I'm pretty sure they do/did, RAM. I owned Volume Logic back in 2004 when it was an awesome program, and having tried iWOW, it seems to basically be the same: enhance the sound.

Volume Logic besides doing some semi-equalizer stuff, offer compression, which can be desirable, particularly for movies and TV shows, and for "evening out" volume levels between songs.

iWow does more with spatial enhancement (they call it Immersive 3D audio) rather than tonal enhancement. iWow has presets of some nature, but I'm not sure what those do. It doesn't appear to have any compression function. SRS Labs does sell some hardware for compression.

So yes, they both "enhance" sound, but in vastly different ways, with possibly some similar ancillary functions.

Hear, by Joe Soft, is system wide, not just within iTunes.
