In 2002 the Democrats put up an empty dress named Kathleen Kennedy Townsend for Governor because she had been Lite Gov and essentially it was her turn. She was a terrible campaigner and the GOPs sensed the weakness and put up Robert "Bobby Haircut" Ehrlich. We suffered four years of declining services and rising taxes in the guise of "fees for service" before Martin O'Malley ran on the Dem side. Bobby Haircut is blessedly on the sidelines for the time being.
The Mass Dems were terribly arrogant to put up Martha Coakley. She's about as dynamic as a paper clip, and the voters are used to a living, breathing human being in that seat. They should have learned from Maryland. Coakley's candidacy was a disservice and an insult to the voters, and they reacted.

So it was the candidate after all. What a pity. People really like Democrat ideas. Please keep believing it.

I suppose if anyone is still reading this thread, I ought to enlarge on my comments. i was too upset to be clear. i don't think Mass voters are necessarily bigots, I believe brown got in on economic issues andb ecause Coakley ran a terrible campaign.
But given the kind and low level of criticism and the way certain news people are grabbing on to any wee thing they can poke at Obama with; given the way certain southern senators in particular have talked and acted, I do believe that a lot of the money that came into this state came from organizations that not only feel that Obama is a socialist, but that they also have some racial issues. i could be wrong. I just don't think so.

For those who don't believe that every American deserve free healthcare please surrender your healthcare coverage to those who desperately need before they have to declare bankruptcy. I challenge you.
