Apple Event: iPhone 4.0 later today

What I'm wondering is how much of the Update will be usable by 3GS 'Phones, and how much will need new iron.

One rumor is about mobile ads- iAds? This must be something different from the ads with apps, etc.

Any thoughts or actual edification?

I am really hoping (against all odds) there there is some confirmation of an Apple + Verizon deal. The interior dust buildup on my Chocolate 3 is getting ridiculous.
