My Roku box just got a little bit better
#1
Roku has been adding free channels. Some of them are kind of interesting.

They recently added a channel called "Newscaster". It features content from the following sources:

CBS
NBC
CNN
NASA
CNET
Current
ESPN
FOX
C-SPAN
NPR
PRI
BBC

Some of the channels are audio only, while others have video.

I watched some of "Meet the Press" on the NBC channel.

What Roku needs to do, is make deals with these sources to get more content. I wouldn't mind paying for stuff like this on an a la carte basis.

Cable companies beware, your days of being a monopoly are numbered...

Are the shows on demand or streaming?

Are CBS, NBC and Fox News live, or delayed and news only?

Thanks

The shows are streaming.

Actually, the amount of news is limited. From what I've seen it's just a fraction of the sources content.

For example, you only get last weeks "Meet the Press" episode.

I wouldn't get a Roku box for this cahannel, but this is a step in the right direction.

I primarily use my Roku box for Netflix, and the MLB baseball channel.

It's also great for streaming Pandora. I just get the streaming going and then shut the TV off. The music plays on my stereo.

Edit: The shows might actually be on demand. You don't get them live.
