3G for iPod Touch through Sprint

This is pretty cool. Sprint made a case for the iPod touch that is a 3G/WiFi hotspot. (same as the Verizon MyFi more or less). This means that you can effectively tether your computer to your iPod Touch. The touch could then enable always-on email access like the iPhone. I wonder if it has a GPS in it too? That would really complete the trifecta. I wonder what they charge for monthly data plans? I could use this with an iPod and do away with the need for the iPhone.

That is pretty interesting. How useful it is depends on the speed of the EV-DO and the monthly price for a data plan. Hmmm...

If I can get a prepaid plan, I would be in (almost for sure).

virginmobile has pay-as-you-go on Sprint's network.
not sure if they have this device, but they do have the MyFi.

I guess you'd have to have it on all the time to receive calls? So would this be a good phone alternative?

Sorry to see the slower data rate. Would have at least thought it'd be full speed 3G.

It seems that if an iPhone really appealed to you, you wouldn't have opted for the iPod touch to begin with.

I really like Ars, but that statement seems like something that would come from a completely clueless author. I'd be interested in this product because an iPhone appeals to me but ATT does not.
