Strange Mail message - what to do?
#1
I have set up my son with a gmail account and set up his Mail program for it. Starting a few days ago he isn't able to send any messages - he gets a pop up message that I've never seen before and cannot get rid of so he can send mail.

The message is:

Error
This message could not be delivered and will remain
in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

The sender address *******@gmail.com was rejected by the server.

I've checked settings and can find anything wrong. I can also access the account via the gmail website. he is set up as a pop account in gmail and everything ran smooth until a few days ago.

Any suggestions?

Depends on the OS you're using.

I had Mail.app and Gmail set-up, but with a "clean install" - it would only config Gmail as an IMAP account.

You probably need to go into advanced mode and verify the SMTP/POP setting - and see if it will do as
you tell it to do. Use security for outbound - same as password, and see if that helps.

It became less of an issue with me after Leopard - because I now use GMail notifier, and it's one click
to get into my GMail box, that I don't bother with it via Mail.app.

It was, however, very irritating, that it wasn't letting me set it up the way I wanted. I want to delete from
Mail.app, but do NOT want to delete from Gmail.com. That is a permanent archive for me for email that
matters, so I want it independent of what I delete from my hard drive.

My son use it on 10.4.11 on his G4 ibook. It just started doing this three days ago.
